Security forces in Chibok local government area of Borno State, northeast Nigeria have repelled an attack in Gatamwarwa village.

Gatamwarwa is less than 10 kilometres from Chibok town in Chibok local government araa where Boko Haram abducted school girls at the height of the conflict in the northeast Nigeria.

A security source, who spoke with DAILY POST on phone, said the militants burnt some houses in the village.

He, however, could not confirm level of casualty.

“We have repelled them. I am currently in Chibok town. The attack is in Gatarmwarwa village.” He said.

Also speaking, a resident of Chibok Mr. Paul Ndirmipaya, who spoke with his people in Chibok told our correspondent that, ” I spoke with Mama and uncle Emmanuel, who are in Chibok, they confirmed there was an attack in Gatamwarwa.”

According to him, the militants were many and came in a convoy of about ten vehicles and began to set fire on houses and shooting before the military came to pursue them.

“Some of my uncles who escaped the attack also corroborated this,” he said.
