Nigeria’s Super Eagles were on Sunday, July 14, beaten by Algeria in the semifinal of the 2019 African Cup of Nations played at the Cairo international stadium.
Nigeria were looking for a win so as to fight for their fourth AFCON title, but they suffered 2-1 defeat as Riyad Mahrez scored the winner for Algeria at the death.
Algeria will now face Senegal in the final of the 2019 African Nations Cup as the Teranga Lions beat Tunisia 1-0 in their own semifinal match.
Nigerians have now taken to social media to react to the defeat of the Super Eagles against Algeria with many blaming goalkeeper Akpeyi, while others attack Ndidi.
Super Eagles fans stated on social media that Akpeyi should have saved Mahrez’s free kick, while other blasted Ndidi for committing the foul which led to the free kick.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Algeria qualified for the final of the 2019 African Cup of Nations final after beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria 2-1 on Sunday, July 14, at the Cairo international stadium.
The Foxes started the match impressively in the first half and they almost scored the first goal in the 8th minute, but Nigerian goalie Daniel Akpeyi was superb with a good save.
Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo failed to clear the ball in which almost cost Nigeria a goal, but Mohamed Belaili missed the chance as Akpeyi saved.
