The Minnesota Twins gave us something that we unfortunately don’t get to see all that often – a beautiful triple play against the New York Yankees.
Seriously, triple plays seem to be so rare. We need more of these in our baseball lives. Especially on a nice summer night when there isn’t a lot going on in the sports world.
The Yankees had runners on first and second with no outs in the first and looked like they could be getting ready for a big inning in Minnesota.
But instead they watched as the Twins turned an Edwin Encarnacion grounder into this triple play:
Twitter loved it:
Target Field is still buzzing about that triple play as the bottom of the first begins. It was the 13th triple play the Twins have had in team history.

Edwin Encarnacion took 4.66 seconds to get from home to 1st, which is just a fraction of a second longer than it took the Twins to turn a triple play on him pic.twitter.com/jJ3GvLJcIn
