News update Awards season has officially kicked off with the first major ceremony honoring the past year in television: the 2019 Emmys!
The final season of Game of Thrones led the nomination pool, with a history-making 32 nods. (The show had already won 10 of those awards at the Creative Arts Emmys last weekend!) The epic fantasy successfully defended its title in one of the top categories — Outstanding Drama Series — but category-mates Ozark, Killing Eve, and Pose had pretty impressive nights of their own.
On the funnier side of the aisle, first-time Outstanding Comedy Series nominee Fleabag bested last year’s winner The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, as well as Schitt’s Creek, Barry, The Good Place, Russian Doll, and the final season of Veep. But don’t worry — Mrs. Maisel didn’t go home empty-handed, having added four brand-new acting statuettes to the show’s name.
